Daniel Reuven Fishman

I am running for Town Meeting because I want to keep Brookline a wonderful place for people of all ages. The Town must continue supporting what makes Brookline great: from schools, libraries, and parks to walkable streets, public transit, and local businesses. While the Town faces challenges, we can and must address them in equitable and sustainable ways.

I live in Brookline Village with my wife Alix, a Boston Public Schools elementary school teacher, and our toddler Elijah, a passionate advocate for Brookline’s parks. During the day, I work as an employment lawyer. I spend much of my free time advocating for progressive causes. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA), the Brookline Democratic Town Committee, and Brookline PAX.

Endorsed by Brookline PAX and Brookline for Everyone.

I respectfully ask for one of your 15 votes for Town Meeting Member on May 3rd.

LWV Guide:

Question 1:  What are the one or two most critical issues in your precinct and/or the town and how would you address them?

Our town is at a crossroads. The pandemic devastated almost every aspect of our community and society. The Town budget was insufficient before the pandemic. Our housing stock is expensive and getting more expensive. Climate change remains an existential threat. Our Town continues to suffer racial injustices. Our town can choose to address these issues full-on or with half measures and Band-Aids. We need to go big.

Question 2:  Biographical data

I have been involved in various progressive causes both locally and statewide including serving on the board of directors for the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, Brookline Democratic Town Committee, and Brookline PAX. I’ve lived through multiple stages of life in Brookline: young professional splitting an apartment with roommates, law student in a microunit with my spouse, and condo owner raising a toddler while working from home in a pandemic. I want to make Brookline a great place for everyone in all stages of life.
